Trip to the Source of the North Fork

Join FNFSR Executive Director, Dave Brotman, for a day-long adventure to the highest source of water in the North Fork. Your tour will include stops at fun sites like the Fulks Run Grocery (home of Turner Ham) and Old Hill Cidery to sample local food and drink. Dave will provide a capable vehicle—the winding roads get pretty bumpy up there—and a picnic lunch.
Early in our organization’s history, Friends worked with the US Forest Service to identify the spring that is at the highest elevation among the many that feed into the North Fork. This “Source of the North Fork” was marked on Earth Day 1990 with a monument high atop Fulk Mountain in northwestern Rockingham County.  It is just a few minutes hike to Sand Spring from the parking area, easily negotiated by folks in reasonable physical condition. Dave will point out any interesting wild edibles visible along the way. Be one of the few to visit this special place on this unique and informative adventure. Arrange a mutually convenient date in advance with Dave. Certificate expires May 15, 2020.
