North Fork Trash Challenge III Results

Third times a charm… this past weekend Friend’s staff and volunteers participated in a self-led trash pick up at sites around the North Fork watershed, and even into the South Fork’s as well. The event was inspired by the challenges of social distancing, coupled with the on-going desires of continuing to help the river, to help keep our community beautiful, and to give a boost to local businesses. Everyone participating was able to choose their own special site to take care of, giving this event a more personal, spring cleaning touch.

All who submitted their photos were entered in a drawing to win a $30 gift card from their choice of local merchants we partnered with. Each of those businesses is a locally owned, independent restaurant or café.

Thanks to everyone who participated — both our volunteers and our merchant partners “Jackson’s Corner Coffee Roastery and Cafe, Swover Creek Farms Brewery, Penelope’s Cafe Galley, Woodstock Brewhouse, Woodstock Cafe, Fort Valley Nursery, Queen Street Diner, Crabby Maggie’s Seafood, El Jalapeños, Old Dominion Doggery & Burger Shoppe, Nancy’s Coffee Bar, Shaffer’s BBQ & Market, C & C Frozen Treats, PaveMint Smokin’ Taphouse, Apple House, Blue Wing Frog”. Together we cleaned up multiple sites from around Woodstock and Strasburg, to Front Royal, and locations out in Shenandoah County.

We will be continuing our trash challenge in August, so keep an eye out. In the meantime, enjoy all of the photos from the weekend’s fun below.
