Do Some Good
Have Some Fun!
North Fork Conservation Corps
Friends of the North Fork and Seven Bends State Park have teamed up to offer an exciting program for teens, 15-17, to provide project-centered, mentor-led experiences at Seven Bends State Park.
The North Fork Conservation Corps is a 6-week program, with NFCC teams of 8 teens meeting on Fridays from 9am to 3pm. This fall’s session begins Friday, September 25th through Friday, October 30th, 2020. Led by mentors from the community, teams will alternate Fridays between completing a service project at the park and participating in outdoor recreational and educational activities.
During the service project, Corps Members will work with Seven Bends rangers on restoring the park’s historic reservoirs and obtain skills in basic carpentry, proper hand tool use, trail building, vegetation identification and proper removal, and general outdoor physical labor. Recreational activities will include fly fishing, hiking and kayaking. Students will be given documentation of their service project hours at the completion of the program.
