North Fork Summer Camps 2018

Ready for fun and exploration outside?  Join the River Players or River Rangers!

Our summer camps are run in conjunction with Shenandoah County Parks and Recreation. They handle registration.

Shenandoah River Players Summer Camp

Cost: $38.00 per student
When: June 18-22, 2018  (Register by June 13)
Time: 9:00 am -3:00 pm (Field trip day(s) may be longer)
Where: U.S. Forest Service Office in Edinburg, VA

This summer enrichment environmental education day camp is offered by Friends of the North Fork of the Shenandoah River for rising 1st-3rd graders (approximate ages 5-9). It is designed to instill a love of nature and outdoor play while teaching stewardship and caring for the environment. Students will learn about animals, trees, soil, plants, and water. They will learn and play in outdoor classrooms, visit the North Fork of the Shenandoah River, and spend a day at Passage Creek on the Lion’s Tale Trail in the George Washington National Forest.

River Rangers Summer Camp

Cost: $55.00 per student
When: June 25-29, 2018  (Register by June 20)
Time: 9:00 am -3:00 pm (Field trip day(s) may be longer)
Where: U.S. Forest Service Office in Edinburg, VA

This summer enrichment environmental education day camp is offered by Friends of the North Fork of the Shenandoah River for rising 4th -8th graders (approximate ages 10-13). Students will become river scientist, visiting the river every day. They will fish, kayak, meet animals with wildlife and fisheries biologists, collect river bugs, and other fun activities.
