Join us for Part 1 of our in-person training to become a Benthic Macroinvertebrate (BMI) certified monitor. Following VA Save Our Streams guidelines, Friends staff will walk you through introductory materials required for certification. In parts one and two, you will learn about how the program came to be, identification of BMIs and a talk through of how to sample for BMIs. At the field session, you will practice and demonstrate field techniques for full certification.

For full certification, this class must be accompanied by participation in a Part 2 course and the field session day on March 26 (three time slots are available). Learn more about BMIs and what we are doing with the program here.

Registration is required– click on the link above to sign up. If you would like more information or have questions contact us at friends@fnfsr.org

Part 2 of the course will occur March 9 or March 17. The field training day will occur on March 26.
