First Annual First Day Hike

The first annual First Day Hike was held at Seven Bends State Park to begin the New Year by getting community members and families outdoors to enjoy nature and the beauty the park has to offer. An overwhelming 107 hikers gathered at the park for the scheduled hike with even more venturing to the park for their own first day hike.

The organized hike took place on the Gokotta Trail, where hikers strolled along the picturesque riverside trail. Those that were looking for a more difficult hike continued on to the River Bend Rise Trail. Many hikers made a day out of it, taking in a variety of trails and sights.

Those that attended not only saw the day as a great way to begin the new year but many also made new friends in the process. One hiker shared, “What a great way to start our new year! A beautiful day, great people, and a breathtaking state park practically in our own backyard! Who knew?”

The park is open for day use and foot traffic at this time. Boat ramps and toilets will open from our Grand Opening Celebration on Saturday, May 2nd onward. Save the Date! We hope to see you there to officially welcome this new gem of a state park to our community.
