Leap of Kindness Volunteer Project

Friends is taking part in Shenandoah County Chamber of Commerce’s Leap of Kindness Day. How will you use your extra day this year?

On Saturday, February 29, Make a Leap of Kindness with Friends by cleaning up Hudgins’ Rest, a river “rest stop” near Maurertown. Work will include brush clearing and pruning from 9am to noon. We’re looking for a maximum of six volunteers for this project. Please RSVP to friends@fnfsr.org or 459-8550. Volunteers will meet at the Friends office. An optional social lunch will follow the workday.

This land was donated to VDGIF by Friends’ Founder Garland Hudgins to provide those paddling the river with a spot to take a break and enjoy the beauty of the river and surroundings. Your Leap will go a long way as this project will prepare for further planned improvements to the site.
