Mountains to Bay Buffer Program: Now Accepting Applicants!

Do you own land with frontage on a creek, stream, or river in the Shenandoah Valley? You may be eligible to have a forested buffer planted along it at no upfront cost to you. Do your part to support the health of our watershed today!

The Mountains to Bay Buffer Program, unlike other cost share programs in the area, pays directly for all aspects of the planting and does not require that your land is used for agriculture. Forested buffers provide bank stabilization, habitat for stream life, and reduce runoff of sediments into the waterway. Check out the program flyer below and contact your local VDOF forester for more information or to apply.
