Description:

This summer enrichment environmental education day camp is offered by Friends of the North Fork of the Shenandoah River for rising 4th -8th graders (approximate ages 10-13). Based around the theme of “From Forest to Faucet”, students will follow the journey of water from where it reaches the earth’s surface to the place from which they consume it. During the week campers will learn in-person about large-scale earth processes (concepts relating to watersheds, life and earth processes, ecosystems and interconnectivity) along with more specific topics relating to trees, soil, agriculture, and water. During field trip days students will connect with the river through science, fishing and paddling on the water. COVID-19 safety measures will be implemented and all campers will be expected to adhere to them so as to make our 2021 camps safe and a success. Need-based scholarships to cover costs of the camp are available; please contact our Program Coordinator for more information.
