Fall 2022 Workshop Series
Rain Barrel Workshop
October 13, 2022-Date has passed
When you take home your very own rain barrel, which you assemble yourself, you’ll be able to keep your garden watered in the dog days of summer, and your car washed (among other things) through much of the year, and all without adding to your water bill or taxing your well. Discover how collecting and using rainwater can benefit your garden and help reduce soil erosion around your home all while benefiting the river!
Beeswax Wrap Workshop
November 9th, 2022
Reusable beeswax food wraps are a great way to practice sustainability in your kitchen. With holidays (and delicious leftovers) approaching, now’s a perfect time to start using them! Make and take beeswax wraps that can be used for years, and avoid the usual cling wrap and foil that inevitably gets thrown out in a few days. And be sure to bring any wax wraps you may already have and refresh them with a new coat of wax. Each participant will take home 5 wraps.
November 3rd, 2022
What to do with all those vegetable tops and eggshells? Why not compost them! While not everyone has space for a large outdoor, passive compost system, most of us have space for a small bin somewhere in our homes. A vermicompost bin is the perfect way to compost in a small space and reuse some of those plastic containers you might have lying around. Make a vermicompost bin for your own home, receive worms, and start reducing your environmental impact today. If you have any spare plastic containers or bins with lids be sure to bring them (recommended capacity 2-15 gallon)! A selection of reusable containers will be available.
Reusable Gift Bag Workshop
December 8, 2022
We’ve all struggled with wrapping uniquely shaped gifts. Why not avoid the hassle this year? At this workshop use natural materials and dyes to decorate a reusable drawstring bag! Keep it for yourself or include it with a holiday gift for someone else. Use it as a gift bag, a produce bag, shoe bag, toy bag, make up bag, an anything-you-want bag!
