This program is supported by the 2020 Virginia Wildlife Grant Program through a partnership between the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources (formerly the Dept. of Game and Inland Fisheries) and the Wildlife Foundation of Virginia.

In this workshop, young women will be encouraged to learn, teach and mentor each other. Mentored by established SRW members and volunteers, they will be introduced to the art of fly fishing, learning the basics of knot tying, appropriate equipment, entomology, good casting techniques, and reading the water like a fish. The workshop includes three days of instruction at Seven Bends State Park. Upon completion, membership in the Shenandoah Reel Women will be offered. Rods, reels and necessary equipment will be available for participants to use during the three-day workshop and for additional summer fishing activities.
